JAZZ MEETS SURF FILM
A one-night-only sunset session at the Beach Bar – FREE ENTRY!
A never-before-seen surf film experience, specially curated by Jesca Maas, curator of the Noosa International Surfilm Festival.
With formal permission from acclaimed surf filmmaker Taylor Steele — creator of The Momentum Files and the iconic travel surf classic Castles in the Sky (2010) — this unique session brings legendary surf cinema to life in a completely new way.
Hand-selected film sequences featuring Rob Machado, Dave Rastovich, Jordy Smith, Craig Anderson, Kelly Slater, Shane Dorian and Andy Irons will screen silently against the backdrop of sunset while the phenomenal surf-jazz band Groove Riderz improvises the entire score live, in the moment.
No soundtrack!
No rehearsal tracks!
Just pure improvisation responding to the rhythm of the ocean, the movement of the surfers, and the energy of the crowd.
Set right on the sand at the Beach Bar, this immersive sunset session blends classic surf travel storytelling with spontaneous live jazz, creating a cinematic experience that has never been presented like this before.
