Seatrees – Official Sustainability Partner

The Noosa Festival of Surfing has always implemented successful sustainability practices. In 2019 we ran the first completely plastic free event utilising plastic alternatives and biodegrade-able materials wherever possible.

This year we will be taking it up a notch by partnering with global sustainability partner, Seatrees (Sustainable Surf).

Seatrees are a non-for-profit organisation who’s simple goal is to protect our oceans. Through connections between people and brands that are ready to meet the challenges of climate change. Seatrees engage social entrepreneurs and scientists who know how to regenerate ecosystems but struggle for funding and recognition.

“We’re excited to be part of a group of committed organisations working to make the Noosa Festival of Surfing an “Ocean Positive” event. Being Ocean Positive means that in addition to regenerating SeaTrees coastal ecosystems to sequester more carbon from the air than The Festival is producing, the event is striving to leave a positive impact on the local community, while proactively reducing waste, energy and water impacts.” – Brett Giddings, Director Sustainability Services, Sustainable Surf / SeaTrees

Seatrees will continue working with sustainability partners like Plastic Free Noosa and Tourism Noosa who will assist the Festival in reaching its sustainability goals. The community is encouraged to get involved also. Our volunteer program is open for applications and even if you can’t volunteer this year, simply placing your waste in the right bin goes a long way to helping us deliver a positive sustainability project for the entire community to benefit from.
