Competitor numbers crack 300!

In November 2020, when event organisers, World Surfaris decided the Noosa Festival of Surfing would go ahead for it’s 30th year, it was uncertain just how many competitors would sign up.

With a reduction of between 20-30% in international competitors, there were fears the event would see less than 300 surfers competing for the first time in over a decade.

But, if the last few years have proven anything, its that this event remains a favourite with the Australian contingent and in very high demand all over Australia.

Today, the festival has 347 competitors signed up, competing across 11 age divisions, 6 open divisions, the team challenge, family challenge and SUPs + the infamous VetShopAustralia dog surfing championships.

With a little over 6 weeks until first heats hit First Point (fingers crossed) event organisers are confident they will reach 400 competitors and see a bigger turnout than first expected back in Nov 2020 when it was decided the festival would go ahead.
