An instant hit when it was introduced at the 2012 Noosa Festival of Surfing, the Surfing Dogs Championships is now in its 10th year and has become the festival’s most popular event.
“Sunshine Coasters have really embraced the surfing dog phenomenon,” Naomi Szabo, Digital Marketing Manager of VetShopAustralia said.
“A few years ago only two legged locals were seen in the Noosa and Maroochy waterways however now it’s common on any given day of the week to see locals hanging 30 with their fur-friends.”
Working alongside co-sponsor Simparica, VetShopAustralia, Australia’s most awarded online retailer of pet health products, is delighted to be bringing the Surfing Dog Championhips to Noosa again in 2020.
Meet The 2021 Surfing Dog Contenders:
The official Surfing Dog Championships pin-up hound, Hugs cruises the waves with his signature head-down, rump raised and tail-wagging style. Sharing the board with his best bud and owner Jonesy and daughter Opal, could this talented trio take out the 2019 Surfing Dog Championships?
Shredding the waves like an absolute pro, Spike likes to do things a little different to the rest of the pack. Gaining momentum and sliding through barrels is his strategy, with his winning moves securing him the coveted title of ‘Best Wave’ at the 2018 Surfing Dog Championships.
Three-time champion and 1770 local, Rama is a Kelpie mix who is known for her edgy side-stepping and effortless exits. Leaving spectators speechless with her signature move ‘The Backpack’ at last year’s event, what could Rama have up her rashie for the 2019 Surfing Dog Championships?
Team Indie Anna
The token duo of the pack, Indi & Anna Jones are the Border Collie sisters that make everyone wish they had their own surfing dog companions. Always super-stylish in their signature bright pink zinc and Hawaiian leis, can this dynamic duo step it up a notch or two and be crowned the 2019 Surfing Dog Championship winners?
