Riding the Wave with Diverse Lending Solutions

Best friends turned business partners Brooke Davies and Pete Lever spend every day working together, live across the road from each other, and are the go-to team in Peregian Beach when it comes to anything loan-related.

Whether it’s a home loan, business finance, cash for a new car or something else, the Diverse Lending Solutions duo provide positive outcomes for clients from their coastal-cool office in the village.

Pete says their uniquely collaborative approach proves that two heads are better than one with their joint effort contributing to better results for clients.

“Brooke comes from a banking background and has a methodological, technical approach, whereas I come from a sport coaching background and have a more creative brain, so between the two of us we’re sure to find a way to have a loan approved if it’s possible,” he said. “We’re both across the clients we service, which means that not only have we looked at their situation from every angle, but they can also contact either of us at any time and know we’ll be able to help without delay.”

Brooke started Diverse Lending Solutions eight years ago after working in both banking and real estate, and initially Pete came on board to support the operational side of the business before quickly realising that loan writing was his future and undertaking study to become a licensed mortgage broker.

The duo moved into their Peregian Beach office four years ago, and have surfed the highs and lows of the finance industry including Covid, the Banking Royal Commission, and rising interest rates, while continuing to provide tailored expert solutions for clients.

Many of their clients come from referrals and are based as close as Peregian Beach or as far away as Mount Isa (where the pair first met), even Victoria.

“Covid was obviously a challenging time for all businesses, but when it comes to our industry it kind of brought us into the 21st Century and made working with remote clients much easier,” said Brooke.

“Before then, Pete or I would fly down to Canberra or wherever to witness our client signing their loan documents, whereas these days, identity verification and signing can be done online, which means we can work from anywhere and help provide solutions to clients across the Coast, state and country.”

Home buyers make up the bulk of clients at Diverse Lending Solutions, a trend that Brooke and Pete imagine will continue if interest rates continue to lower and more people have a chance to get into the market.

“We love working with all kinds of home buyers, and have seen an increase in first home buyers, which is great,” Pete said. “We see a lot of rhetoric about how the younger generation will never be able to afford a home these days, but in our experience, that’s not true.

“There are government grants and schemes available that make it much easier than you think to get your foot on the housing ladder, so if you want to know more – even if you think it’s impossible – come and chat to us and see what we can do.”

Diverse Lending Solutions also specialises in securing loans for people with trickier financial circumstances, including small business owners, those with tax debt, individuals with bad credit history and more.

“The Big Four Banks often decline applications from these individuals, but there are lenders out there who will offer loans to clients with different types of backgrounds – we just need to put the extra leg-work in,” Brooke explained.

“If another mortgage broker says it’s not possible, chat to us and we’ll check if there are any other avenues to explore.

“We’re all about compliance and ethics – it’s not anything underhand, but simply working harder to find the right lenders for our customers.”

Pete agrees: “These types of applications take a lot longer to put together, but I don’t mind being on hold with a bank for four hours if it means getting a great outcome for a client.”

Another key customer base for Diverse Lending Solutions are commercial loans for businesses that need to buy property, fund operations or buy vital equipment, particularly for clients in the trade and construction industries.

“We love working on business loans because we feel like we’re doing our small part to help grow the local economy,” Pete said.

“They’re really rewarding – especially in a community like ours that’s powered by so many amazing small businesses.”
“The Sunshine Coast is a really special community, and we feel so grateful to be living and working here,” Pete said.

“Brooke has a young family and I love to surf – we both honestly can’t think of anywhere else in the world we’d rather be.”

“We love the connected, community feel of Peregian Beach, in particular,” agreed Brooke. “In our line of work, people want to deal with someone who they can trust, and we’re proud to forge lasting relationships and go above and beyond for every client who comes through our doors.”
