World Surfaris returns to the Laguna Real Estate Noosa Festival of Surfing for the fifth consecutive year to present the Men’s 65 & Over, and to give one lucky competitor the trip of a lifetime.
For the last four years, World Surfaris has offered a spectacular surf holiday package for two to stunning locations, including Hudhuranfushi Resort in the Maldives and, last year, to Papua New Guinea’s Tupira Lodge.
“I have just returned from my amazing trip to Tupira, thanks to World Surfaris,” said 2016 winner, Peppie Simpson. “Two weeks of pumping waves, I surfed myself stupid!”
Pioneers of the Tupira destination, World Surfaris brings surfers from all around the world to its perfect, uncrowded waves almost exclusively and is the largest operator of surf holidays across PNG. Surfing Association of PNG patron, Justice Nicholas Kirriwom, and SAPNG president, Andrew Abel, have worked hard alongside World Surfaris to establish Tupira Lodge as a premium global surfing destination.
This year, however, the destination will remain a mystery until the unveiling of the prize on the Noosa Festival’s presentation evening, Saturday, 11 March.
“Let’s just say that it’s a destination we’ve been working on for some time,” says owner of World Surfaris, John Finlay. “It’s a bit of a different destination to what we’ve done previously and I think some crew will be genuinely and happily surprised.
“We have numerous plans for the expansion of World Surfaris underway, of which this mystery destination is a part of. It’s going to be a very exciting year for us.”
Celebrating their company’s 20th anniversary just two weeks after this year’s festival, John and his Mooloolaba-based team are stoked to be back on board, the international business uniting once more with its local roots:
“The Noosa Festival is a fantastic branding project for us,” says John, “but more than that, we’re thrilled to be supporting other local Sunshine Coast businesses.
“And when you get a winner like Peppie Simpson, who is just an absolutely lovely lady and so enthusiastic, it makes it so worthwhile.”
World Surfaris believes that surfing is for everyone – “you can’t avoid growing older but you don’t have to grow up, so keep surfing,” as John wisely states. Presenting the Men’s 65 & Over division, World Surfaris reinforces this mantra, inviting surfers of all ages and abilities to their diverse destinations, with something to suit any level of surfer.
All entrants in the 2017 Laguna Real Estate Noosa Festival of Surfing are automatically entered into the World Surfaris Competitor Draw, the only condition being that you have to be there to claim your prize. 2016 saw a devastated Matt Chojnacki missing out by mere seconds after his name was drawn and called, but the prize redrawn when he didn’t emerge. This year will be doubly exciting, with the winner called, as well as the mystery destination also being announced.
For those who aren’t the lucky recipients, the good news is that all World Surfaris Competitor Draw prizes are also available as packages on www.worldsurfaris.com. You might not win the draw, but you can still enjoy the trip!
