Sponsors new and old are jumping on board the Laguna Real Estate Noosa Festival of Surfing and, while there is still much to do and a long way to go, 2017 is shaping up to be an unprecedented success.

Without sponsors the Noosa Festival would disappear, unable to sustain itself in the year-long process of orchestrating the world’s largest surfing event by competitor numbers. While we are on the far side of the year, the festival exactly six months away, businesses are lending their support for the 26th annual event.

John Brasen, who co-founded the festival almost three decades ago with long-standing festival director, Phil Jarratt, brings his sponsorship back for the twelfth consecutive year. Brasen’s magazine, Pacific Longboarder, has long been at the forefront of Australian longboarding, and fuels content for many years to come by presenting the Pacific Longboarder Magazine Men’s Under 18 division. The next generation of readers and featured surfers is once more in good hands.


No stranger to the beaches of the Noosa Shire, but new to the festival fold, Salt Magazine join the event as sponsors on the other side of the gender coin, presenting the Salt Magazine Women’s Under 18. The community-based magazine reflects the stories and beauty of the region to locals and visitors alike, and is a very welcome addition to the festival’s host of sponsors.

Also a first-time sponsor, festival organisers are thrilled to welcome Noosa Civic Shopping Centre, which joins the event for the Noosa Civic Family Challenge. Noosa Civic offers family-oriented entertainment throughout the year in its eco-friendly, undercover shopping centre, making it the perfect fit for the Family Challenge division. This year’s winners, Jack and John Norton will doubtlessly return to defend their title, while on the sand, the Noosa Civic team are planning to host numerous family-oriented activities, to be announced closer to the event.

Away from the action, though no less integral to the festival’s ‘8 Days of Pure Stoke’, XXXX Summer Bright Lager will be back once more, serving cold ones as the sun sets, right on the sands of First Point, Noosa, refreshing surfers and the general public and hosting the nightly entertainment, from talks to live music and film screenings. Likewise, Red Energy Promotions will once again be weaving their creative magic across a swathe of festival merchandise, including t-shirts, hats and bags. In a change from the last few years, the Noosa Festival invited Japanese surf artist, Iki Yasuo – or @candart_iki as he is more commonly known in the realms of social media – to create some exclusive artwork for next year’s event. His quirky, simple line drawings embody the stoke and style of the festival and will be used by Red Energy Promotions for all merchandise, available to competitors and the general public, and are now available for pre-purchase online.


VetShop Australia will, of course, return to present the Surfing Dog Spectacular, joined by Seresto, a cutting edge, odourless, water-resistant flea and tick collar specially designed for all those Aussie surfing dogs!

Sirromet Wines will keep the more cultured surf rats refreshed in the XXXX Summer Beach Bar and the Sirromet VIP Lounge each evening, and with the always generous support of Laguna Real Estate, Tourism and Events Queensland and Tourism Noosa, the potential is definitely building for the most successful Noosa Festival of Surfing to date.

But it’s not there yet, and with several gaps yet to fill, festival director, Sam Smith is enthusiastically welcoming expressions of interest.

“As we are every year, we are overwhelmed with the response. This time last year, we were questioning whether or not the festival might be achievable, but we are in a far more positive position as we look towards 2017. There is still a way to go though, and we are inviting businesses to take advantage of numerous division sponsorships still available.”
